We are seeking an experienced Nurse or AHP who is proactive and keen to further their skills and knowledge in pain management.

Educating patients regarding their pain management including pharmacological and non-pharmacological alternatives is central to the team's patient centred focus.
This role also offers opportunities to educate others around pain and pain management.
The team offers teaching across the trust to the wider MDT in both formal and informal sessions.
Main duties of the job The post holder will be part of a multi-disciplinary team delivering specialist advice and guidance on the management of acute and chronic pain for in-patients across the Trust.
As a Pain Nurse/Practitioner you will assess patients, plan, and implement their care, providing specialist advice and guidance on the management of acute and chronic pain for patients within all specialities across the Trust.
You will provide specialist education and training, on acute and chronic pain management to all members of the multi- disciplinary team, patients, and carers.
This involves teaching in formal and informal settings.
The pain nurse/practitioner will support the Lead Clinical Practitioner, Clinical Nurse Specialist and Anaesthetists to provide quality pain management services, working within a biopsychosocial model in line with local and national recommendations.

Job description Job responsibilities As a Pain Nurse/Practitioner the post holder will assess patients, plan, and implement care, provide specialist advice and guidance on the management of acute and chronic pain for patients, carers and staff within all specialities across the Trust.
Use trust wide policies and standards for the management of acute and chronic pain and identify systems for the on- going monitoring of this area of clinical practice.
Provide specialist education and training, on acute and chronic pain management to all members of the multi- disciplinary team, patients, and carers.
This involves teaching in formal and informal settings.
CLINICAL PRACTICE Promote and demonstrate highly developed specialist knowledge and skills in the practice of pain management.
Actively work with patients and users of the service to collaborate care.
Work independently and within a multi-disciplinary team.
Ensure accurate and comprehensive records are kept and that confidentiality is always maintained.
Assess, develop and implement pain nursing programmes and coordinate the continuing provision of care.
As an autonomous practitioner and patient advocate, manage a patient caseload across key associated clinical areas daily.
Triage consultant referral requests.
Develop programmes of care such as treatment plans and therapeutic regimes based on assessment and evaluation.
Recommend analgesics from prescription protocols and guidelines.
Refer patients to a pain consultant where appropriate.
Evaluate efficacy of treatment and adjust as necessary.
Act as point of contact for ward staff in relation to pain devices.
Develop/facilitate change, practice development and clinical projects within the Trust.
Identify and evaluate areas of pain management that need to be changed.
Provide advice and support to areas requiring change in pain management practice, empowering health care professionals to make appropriate changes.
Collaborate with other healthcare professionals within the Trust to enhance patient care.
Post holders with an extended practice qualification recognised by the Trust; Will ensure practice is appropriate to patient need and in accordance with evidence based practice, national, and local protocols whilst remaining within scope of practice.
LEADERSHIP Use evidence of best practice to develop care in collaboration with colleagues.
Act as a role model providing advice and specialist techniques through evidence-based practice.
Monitor the pathway of care followed by all patients throughout their treatment, referring to other healthcare professionals and care services as appropriate.
Design, implement and evaluate strategies to advise healthcare professionals, patients, and carers on pain management initiatives.
Ensure pain management and service-related issues are identified and escalated as appropriate.
Take an active part in discussion and action on generic issues that affect nursing within the directorate and Trust in general.
Be aware of local and national initiatives within the field of pain management and participate in Trust initiatives to meet recommendations.
Deputise in the absence of the Lead Clinical Practitioner.
Adhere to trust policies and protocols and participate in the development of policies, guidelines, and competencies in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team.
Assist in governance and patient safety concerns related to pain management.
Participate in the completion and action planning of clinical incident reporting.
EDUCATION Address the educational needs of patients, families, carers, and staff involved inthe delivery of pain management Promote and encourage staff interest and plan and implement educational opportunities for all healthcare professionals.
Teach and deliver core training and education for all healthcare professionals informal and informal settings.
Provide an appropriate environment which should include mentorship, coaching, facilitating and preceptorship.
Ensure own personal/professional development utilising all resources available within the team.
Ensure a high standard of care is maintained within the speciality through effective education.
RESEARCH AND AUDIT Provide statistical and/or other evidence to demonstrate efficient and effective use of resources in providing a high-quality service.
Participate in the analysis of audit data, producing audit reports and action plans as required.
Demonstrate commitment to research-based practice.
Lead and act as a role model for evidence-based practice within the specialism.
PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT Develop personal and professional knowledge through critical self- appraisal, clinical supervision, and networking with other healthcare professionals.
Maintain professional knowledge and continue to develop enhanced clinical skills acquired through specialist training and experience.
Ensure all mandatory training and updates are completed and necessary records maintained.
Maintain professional registration and requirements for revalidation.
Attend yearly appraisal and be actively involved in a personal development programme.
