Actuarial Specialist - Longevity & Research Salary up to £70,000 We have an exciting opportunity for a qualified or nearly qualified actuary to join the Longevity Centre within our Actuarial Assumptions team.
This is a great chance for you to become a key person in analysing our longevity experience, researching into drivers of future longevity improvements, developing assumptions and presenting and explaining them to senior management.
The wider team covers both demographic assumptions and asset assumptions applicable to annuities and so this role provides a great opportunity to get broader exposure to the assumption setting process.
A bit about the job: This is a high-impact role and your work will significantly improve Aviva's understanding, measurement, and pricing of longevity risk, our most material demographic risk.
You will be part of a team of five which is responsible for gaining insights from the analysis of portfolio longevity experience, population trends, and medical technologies.
The role will involve getting expert input from across the business, specifying proposed assumptions, writing technical papers and presenting to decision makers.
The role is varied - you could review mortality experience for a billion pound BPA contract, or comment on the future longevity impact of an emerging medical treatment.
There is scope to become a subject matter expert in longevity, as well as exposure to other annuity-related demographic assumptions (deferred annuity options, marital proportions etc.).
Skills and experience we're looking for: A qualified or nearly qualified actuary with an interest in longevity research and assumption setting Good written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present complex issues in a clear and concise manner Ability to work independently, think creatively, prioritise and take responsibility for ensuring that deliverables are met.
Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues across Finance and with other stakeholders across the business Knowledge of life insurance products, particularly annuities, and how the various reporting and capital metrics work would be beneficial but not essential.
An interest in statistical methods would also be beneficial Suitable candidates with other relevant experience are welcome to apply What you'll get for this role: Our purpose - with you today, for a better tomorrow - is a promise we make to our colleagues too.
And one of the ways we live up to that promise is by investing in you.
