Our client, a well-established accountancy practice is looking to build its specialist medical accounting team with the focus on the medical sector – GPs, medical partnerships, private medical practices etc.Along with flexible, hybrid working and a supportive working environment, this firm will offer the successful candidate:Holiday – 25 days + 8 days of statutory bank holidays and a holiday purchase schemePaid overtime and income protection scheme (protects your income in times of ill health)Life assurance – up to four times your basic annual salaryEmployee Assistance ProgrammeFree professional subscriptionsOnsite parkingSocial events and opportunity for involvement with local charities As Accountant, your responsibilities will include:Timely and accurate preparation of management accounts for manager reviewPrepare complex assignments for manager reviewUtilise junior staff on more simple assignments and oversee their work standard, supporting trainees with development of knowledge and skillsReview annual accounts prepared by juniors and finalise accountsDeal with complex business tax computations, including corporation taxPrepare personal tax returns for manager/director review – ensuring that clients are given good, pro-active adviceDeliver exemplary services to clients and develop the relationship – communicate by letter, telephone and face to face in a professional manner, recognising and addressing the clients' needsPrepare necessary files/documents for client meetingsProvide cloud accounting training / support to clientsMake manager aware of potential for overrun at earliest opportunity, be pro-active and prompt upward communication, predicting possible concerns and offering suggestions to remedyProvide daily feedback to all direct reports, review jobs giving clear, constructive feedback and carry out annual appraisal of direct reportsTake an active participation in the personal and professional development of all direct reports Please do apply for this Accountant role if you can satisfy the following:Ideally be qualified ACCA/ACA – exceptional part qualified and qualified by experience candidatesHave extensive experience gained within a UK accountancy practice environmentAwareness of NHS pension scheme and the preparation of superannuation certificatesKnowledge and understanding of the GMS contract and NHS funding streamsExperience with using PCSE Online and dealing with PCSE queriesKnowledge of the preparation of PCN accounts is desirable (although not essential)Good general IT skills; MS Office, Xero, Sage – experience of QuickBooks, Online cloud accounting, Autoentry/ HubDoc, IRIS, Virtual Cabinet and Practice Engine would be an advantageOrganised with good time management skillsExcellent communication skills A full, detailed job spec is available on registration.
