We are looking to appoint a qualified and dynamic Accountant to join the Finance team at North Yorkshire Police.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a vital role in the delivery of financial and management accounting services that support our essential public safety operations.
In particular, this post will initially focus on managing the Capital and Treasury Management portfolio .
While all our accountants are expected to be proficient in both financial and management accounting, and portfolios may be rotated, this vacancy primarily involves technical responsibilities in these areas.
Key responsibilities: Lead on the Capital and Treasury Management portfolio, including financial governance and technical analysis.
Support the production and monitoring of Medium-Term Financial Plans and statutory accounts.
Provide financial analysis and advice to ensure the best use of resources, including cost modeling and trend analysis.
Manage a team of Senior Accounting Technicians and/or Accounting Technicians, fostering a collaborative and inclusive culture.
Ensure effective day-to-day financial management processes, including budget monitoring and compliance with regulations.
Contribute to the development and implementation of enhanced financial systems and procedures.
Requirements: To be successful, you will: Hold or be actively studying towards a professional accountancy qualification (CCAB or CIMA) or demonstrate equivalent experience.
Possess excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Be experienced in statutory and management accounting, as well as in financial process improvements.
Have a high level of proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
