Overview We have one role in the Reducing Reoffending Statistics team, within the Analysis Directorate.
Roles are open to:
Existing analysts from all professions (GORS/GSS/GSR/GES) either on level transfer or on promotion.Other candidates that are not members of GSS, GORS, GSR, GES professions but possess and can demonstrate similar experience at the appropriate level. Badging opportunities will be available once in post for those who wish to apply.Due to the role(s) being analytical, those successful in recruitment will be eligible for a specialist allowance following an analytical interview based on the following values:
Minimum requirements to apply: Candidates must be able to show the relevant experience and skills and must meet the criteria for entry:
HEO grade – must meet at least one of the following:
You possess a numerate degree or a degree that has an analytical, statistical or research element, with a 2:2 or above, or as a higher degree (e.g. MSc, PhD).Alternatively, you have significant experience (usually a minimum of two-years' work experience) evidencing use of data and/or analytical skills (outside of a part-completed Civil Service degree apprenticeship).This role requires access to the MoJ extract of the Police National Computer. This is only accessible from our London HQ at 102 Petty France. This role is London based only and requires regular office attendance.
About the Analysis Directorate We are passionate about improving justice outcomes through innovative research, data and analysis. In the Analysis Directorate, we provide high quality data and analysis helping to ensure strategic, policy, finance, corporate and operational decisions are based on robust evidence.
What you'll do HEO Role in Reducing Reoffending Statistics team The Reducing Reoffending Statistics team is responsible for processing, analysing, and publishing data on our key reoffending datasets, as well as offering analytical insight to Ministers, policy colleagues and external customers. You will work to produce the Proven Reoffending Quarterly Statistics publication, which is an accredited National Statistics publication. The reoffending measure is technically complex, relying on linking numerous data sources and coding in SQL and R. Who you are The following experience and skills will be required:
Strong analytical ability, in particular robust data skills, including undertaking quantitative data analysis and presenting data effectively.Good communication and inter-personal skills, with the ability to explain complex data and analytical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.A self-starter with strong ability to plan and prioritise your own work with challenging and competing deadlines, whilst maintaining high-quality statistical outputs.Proficiency with both Excel and R programming language.How to apply You'll need to submit an anonymised CV and Statement of Suitability as part of your application.
