You will be requiredto take charge of the ward and provide effective leadership, expertise, adviceand support, whilst ensuring a supportive, friendly and safe environment forboth our patients and staff.Ward21 is a 28 bedded Cardiology & General Medicine ward.
It is a busy and fastpaced environment.
You will be expected to work alongside the Lead Nurse inorder to implement change and ensure delivery of the service is workingefficiently and effectively.
In order tobe considered for this unique opportunity, candidates are required to ensureeffective delivery of the band 6 role including leading and managing the teamcombined with the ability to support and guide individuals throughout theircareers.
The role also involves being able to coordinate and take charge on adaily basis, ensuring the team are working effectively together to provideexceptional patient care, whilst supporting the Lead Nurse and deputising intheir absence.
Main duties of the job The responsibility of the post holder is to take a leadrole in the co-ordination, planning, assessment and delivery of individual careneeds provided by the multidisciplinary team, ensuring the effective leadershipand management of the ward in the absence of the Lead Nurse.The post holder will initiate and manage care of acutemedical patients, following agreed protocols and guidelines.The post holder will actively participate in any servicedevelopment identified and initiated by the Trust or multidisciplinary team,under the guidance of the Lead Nurse.The post holder is expected to lead a team of staff at band5 and below and take a lead role in facilitating, educating, supervisingsupporting and developing both qualified and unqualified staff, within theirsphere of responsibility.The post holder will undertake professional development andfurther management skills under the guidance of the Lead Nurse.
They will beexpected to undertake aspects of the Lead Nurse role and deputise in theirabsence.In conjunction with colleagues, the post holder will beresponsible for the physical environment of the workplace.
This will includehealth and safety issues, security and the appropriate safe management ofequipment and resources allocated to the area.The post holder will ensure that all nursing documentationis complete, up to date and in line with NMC and Trust guidelines.
