Job summary Anexciting position has arisen for a Health Care Assistant to support the clinicsin the Centre for Diabetes and Endocrinology.
These posts rarely becomeavailable within the Centre.The NHShas seen many changes in the last 3 years and as a department we have needed toadapt to ensure our patients are still cared for while maintaining safety forourselves and colleagues.
If you feel you have the flexibility and ability toadapt to a rapidly changing NHS you may be the ideal person for this post.
This isa small but friendly team that has a family atmosphere to work together for acommon goal.The Healthcare assistant in the Centre for Diabetes and Endocrinology is a central rolethat is one of the most prominent and visible within the Centre.
The rolerequires that you will support the multi-disciplinary team with helping tomaintain the Diabetes and Endocrine outpatient services.
This role alsorequires a friendly approachable person who can help people feel at easequickly.
Main duties of the job Responsibilities include performing clinical observationsincluding near patient blood glucose / ketone testing, and also, venepunctureon a day to day basis following trust protocols and procedures.Being a point of contact for service users and providingbasic advice on services available within the Diabetes Centre.Monitoring clinics and ensuring that they are runningsmoothly and keeping patients informed during visits regarding their care.Supporting the multi-disciplinary team within the DiabetesCentre to help with the flow of patient care.Someone who is flexible with a positive outlook and upholdsthe values and beliefs of the trust will excel in this role.

Person Specification Qualifications Essential Care Certificate Completion of a clinical skills competency- based workbook or equivalent relevant experience to vocational qualification level 3, or willingness to undertake.
GCSE Maths & English or qualified to equivalent Functional skills level 2 in Maths & English, or willingness to undertake.
Knowledge and Awareness Essential Confidentiality understanding of Information Governance Knowledge and understanding of Health and Safety Knowledge of clinical patient observations Willingness to undertake competencies supported by clinical skills training and education to gain theoretical underpinning knowledge in a range of clinical interventions and use of test equipment blood glucose monitors, venepuncture, cannulation etc.
Desirable Knowledge and understanding of current healthcare issues Experience Essential At least 6 months of care experience working in a health or social care setting.
