The RoleThe Acute Division's role is to deliver high quality clinical services and non-clinical support functions that meet the immediate and future needs of the patient population in Lanarkshire.Through the Director of Hospital Services the Service Manager is accountable for the entire operational and strategic management of their Service Area, including responsibility for its performance, resources and activity.
In addition, the Service Manager is responsible for providing managerial input to the Division's strategic structure and for developing future clinical strategy via the Division's Clinical Groupings.
Furthermore, in addition to Directorate business the Service Manager, directed by the Director of Hospital Services, is expected to work on a range of Service specific and NHSL wide issues.NHS LanarkshireHave you always wanted to work with NHS Lanarkshire?

NHS Lanarkshire is comprised of Acute Services (which currently provide hospital based services over 3 main sites), Corporate & Property & Support Services, North and South Lanarkshire Health and Social Care Partnerships which provide integrated primary healthcare and social care services to local communities and surrounding areas.What we'll need you to bringEducated to postgraduate/masters degree level or equivalent experience, preferably with an MBA or MSc management qualification.Demonstrable senior managerial experience with recent evidence of effectively implementing organisational changes and evidence of effective resource management.Proven track record of staff management, leadership and motivation through cohesive and effective team working.The Service Manager must be able to create an atmosphere of trust and co-operation during a period of rapid and complex change.The ability to plan, organise, direct and control a diverse range of staff is essential, together with an in depth knowledge of costing, personnel, risk, information and quality systems.Extensive knowledge of the NHS in Scotland and its organisations, its policies and its strategic goals.Please note for all vacancies where a driving licence is required; this must be a full UK/EU/EEA licence.It would be great if you also haveAcute operational experience Knowledge and understanding of planned care and unplanned care targets and reporting mechanismsContract typeFixed Term or Secondment for 12 monthsFull time37 hoursPlease note this is a fixed term post for 12 months.
Where a post only has temporary funding and an existing member of NHS Lanarkshire staff wishes to apply, this will be treated as a secondment.
The employee MUST already have written agreement from their line manager to be released on a secondment before applying for the post.
