We are seeking a dynamic individual who is committed to tackling the social determinants of health and reducing inequalities.
The post holder will be part of an established Public Health Team and will lead the planning, management, and implementation of public health programmes, in collaboration with our community planning partners, Health and Social Care Partnership and local communities, to reduce health inequalities and improve health within Lothian.
They will have responsibility for a range of public health programmes in line with locally and nationally identified priorities and partners' strategic plans.We have 4 place based teams in the Population Health Division of NHS Lothian's Directorate of Public Health and Health Policy and currently have a vacancy in the Midlothian team.The directorate aims to improve and protect the health of people in Lothian as part of a whole system approach to public health in Scotland.
We are seeking applicants with an understanding of health inequalities and experience of health improvement/ public health, project planning, management and implementation, in addition to well-developed partnership working and negotiation skills.
Applicants should be educated to degree level in public health or a related subject.We will fully support disabled candidates, and candidates with long-term conditions or who are neurodivergent by making reasonable adjustments to our recruitment policy and practices.If Part-time the salary will be pro-rata.
NHS Scotland is reducing their full-time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay.
This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff.
This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours.
However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.
