This midwife should have existing experience of rotation through the various areas of maternity service and be able to apply extensive midwifery knowledge and expertise to this role.
Key parts of this role would be -:To help with a range of Clinical Risk Management Programmes including Moderate harm Comprehensive care reviews, Local Adverse Event Reviews, Significant Adverse Event Reviews and Perinatal Mortality Reporting Tool (PMRT) within Women's Services Help facilitate the investigation of adverse events across Womens Services and alignment with current review processes.
Aiding in reporting themes and improvement plans.
To oversee the management of datix incidents.
Communicate with staff responsible for investigating Datix incidents and help build reports on themes / issues.
Ensure timely review and closure of incidents in accordance with local policy and ensuring incidents are appropriately graded according to risk.
To help monitor the compliance of completion of action plans from critical incident investigations and incident reviews.
To provide support to the Being Open programme of work across Womens Services.
The programme supports families in dealing with serious incidents and issues relating to patient outcomes, including death.
To communicate directly with families and be their point of contact in relation to communications regarding issues / events / reviews.The post is for a rotational midwife and may be a secondment opportunity if working within NHS LothianThis post requires the post holder to have a PVG Scheme membership/ record.
If the post holder is not a current PVG member for the required regulatory group (i.e.
child and/or adult) then an application will need to be made to Disclosure Scotland and deemed satisfactory before they can begin in post.
