Job summary This role is 12 months fixed term/secondment opportunity working 09:00 - 17:00 Monday-FridayThisrole is a fantastic opportunity for apprentices who are currently studying forNVQ Level 2/3, apprentices should note that the salary will remain as anapprenticeship salary as this position is fixed term.Weare seeking to recruit a well motivated individual to work in our busyOutpatients Department where you will carry out a full range of duties in orderto provide an effective and efficient service.
As an Outpatient Receptionist,you will be the first port of call for patients coming into the Hospital forOutpatient appointments.
With good communication and interpersonal skills, youwill have experience of communicating with a wide range of people on all levelseither by telephone or face to face.
You will be able to work on your owninitiative, prioritising your workload and paying attention to detail at alltimes whilst working under pressure and to tight deadlines.
You will be agood team player with a flexible approach to work, pleasant personality andpositive outlook.
Main duties of the job Acting as first point of contact forpatients, families/carers and professionals, ensuring a welcoming and calmenvironment by presenting a courteous, pleasant and professional image at alltimes.Registration and Reception of patientsarriving for outpatient appointmentsTo input or amend demographic, personaldetails of patient attendances to the hospital using the EPR system to providethe Trust with an up to date record of patient activity and information.Introduce patients to the clinic areaand assist in their non-clinical enquiries.Input Clinic Outcome Sheets onto the PASand arrange appointments for patients as directed by the clinical staff,ensuring patients are given/sent timely appointments.Ensure that any data created, edited,used, or recorded within their area of responsibility is accurate in order tomaintain the highest standards of data quality.Ensure confidentiality at all times,answer telephone calls and relaying messages in a timely and appropriatemanner, referring clinical queries to the relevant staff member.To track casenotes using the electronictracing system in accordance with Trust policy and procedure.To provide front sheets and patientidentification labels if necessary.Assisting with the duties of otheroutpatient clerical staff where appropriate.To be flexible to the needs of theservice/Department and Trust.
Ensuring the security of the department is maintained and any possiblerisks are reported.
