Working Hours: Annualised Hours – 41.5 hours per week, 1891 hours per annumWorking patterns typically between 35 hours and 45 hours per week.Contract Type: PermanentClosing Date: 19th December 2024Interview Date(s): TBCAn exciting opportunity has arisen within the Waste Management Delivery Service, as such Leicestershire County Council is looking to recruit to Plant Operatives to support in the operation of the Council's Waste Transfer Stations (WTS).All positions are working full time (5 days per week which may include working weekends, both Saturdays and Sundays every week.
Bank Holidays that fall within working patterns could be mandatory but paid as double time).
Varying hours worked between 6:45am and 6:00pmSuccessful candidates will be based on Whetstone WTS; but all candidates must be prepared to be based at any of the three sites on a day-to-day basis (Loughborough and Kibworth)About the RoleYou will be responsible for operating a variety of heavy plant and equipment that will include 5CX, loading shovels, telehandlers, and forklift trucks for the efficient and effective transfer of waste from busy WTS, in strict accordance with safe systems of work.
The role will also involve maximising the recovery of recyclables within waste and safely controlling deliveries from private traders and district councils.
The role is based in a busy transfer station and involves working outdoors.
It is expected that the successful candidates will have previous experience of operating loading shovels and telehandlers at waste or construction sites.
However, training may be provided to suitable candidates that have no previous experience of operating this type of plant.
