Job Description As a Radio Installation Engineer, you will be responsible for installing, configuring, and maintaining radio communication systems within Blue Light vehicles.
Your role will ensure that our clients' radio systems are operational, reliable, and meet performance standards.
You will work closely with our clients to understand their needs and provide technical expertise throughout the installation process.
Primary tasks include: Carrying out production activities in the capacity of Vehicle Installation Engineer, converting vehicles to customer specification.
Inspecting vehicles for condition and compliance prior to commencing work and signing off the inspection.
Building vehicles in accordance with instruction, whether documented or verbal.
Ensuring completed vehicle is fully compliant with required specification.
Sourcing materials/parts.
Carrying out associated administration e.g.
Job sheets, Time Sheets etc.
Ensuring good housekeeping is maintained in work area.
Moving vehicles between parking and work areas as required – subject to driving licence.
Complying with all Health and Safety requirements.
Complying with all company Quality processes and procedures.
Responsible for own workmanship and product quality.
Mentor/train junior Engineers (where applicable).
Carry out other duties appropriate to the appointment in support of production activities.
Installation: Install, configure, and test radio communication equipment.
Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on radio systems to ensure optimal performance.
Technical Support: Provide technical support and training to clients on the operation and maintenance of radio systems.
Documentation: Prepare and maintain accurate documentation of installations, configurations, and maintenance activities.
Compliance: Ensure that all installations comply with industry standards, regulations, and safety protocols.
Upgrades: Assist with the upgrade and replacement of radio systems as needed.
Customer Interaction: Communicate effectively with clients to understand their requirements and provide solutions tailored to their needs.
Team Collaboration: Work with other engineers and technical staff to coordinate installations and resolve technical issues.
Qualifications Vehicle technology qualification such as City & Guilds, NVQ level 3 or ONC/HNC. Working knowledge of FCS1362.
FITAS Accreditation Experience in an automotive technical role, electrical or mechanical discipline.
Good communication skills.
Full driving licence.
Good understanding of Health and Safety procedures.
Strong understanding of radio communication technologies and systems.
Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and software for troubleshooting.
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
Strong communication and customer service skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
