Technical Support Engineer A leading global manufacturer of passenger information systems for public transport is seeking a skilled Technical Support Engineer to join their expanding team.
Specializing in innovative solutions for the transport industry, this company designs, develops, and manufactures cutting-edge technology at their headquarters in Lewes, East Sussex, while also operating internationally with offices and partners around the world.
This role is an exciting opportunity to work in a company at the forefront of technological change, where you will be involved in everything from on-site installations and repairs to remote troubleshooting and customer support.
Responsibilities: Attend various customer sites across the UK to perform installations, repairs, surveys, and upgrades of equipment.
Answer technical queries via email, phone, and video conferencing platforms such as Teams.
Configure equipment and prepare media content using bespoke software tools.
Collaborate with sales, R&D, and production teams to resolve issues and improve product performance.
Provide first-line support on products, troubleshooting hardware and software issues.
Carry out site evaluations and offer suggestions for improvements.
Deliver training to customers on in-house software and hardware solutions.
Participate in team meetings and occasional travel to the head office in Lewes.
Requirements: Ability to work independently or as part of a team, demonstrating flexibility in problem-solving.
Experience in repairing electrical and electronic devices (soldering, cable repairs, crimping).
Full UK driving license and willingness to travel within the UK and occasionally abroad.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proficient with Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office packages.
Familiar with networking and serial protocols.
A well-organized approach to tasks, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Comfortable with overnight stays away from home when required.
Desirable Skills: Experience with serial communication standards and protocols.
Familiarity with Linux operating systems.
Understanding of electrical and electronic system design (circuit diagrams, wiring).
Previous technical support experience, especially in the public transport or manufacturing sectors.
