Job summary We are seeking to recruit a Band 5 1st Level Registered Nurse or Operating Department Practitioner with current NMC registration/HCPC registration to the post in Anaesthetic Care Unit at Scarborough Hospital.We would love to tell you about our team and our culture.
Our area is committed to providing a high standard of patient care over two sites (Scarborough and Bridlington) covering a variety of specialities.Our surgical specialties include: Maxillofacial, ENT, Gynaecology, Urology,Upper GI, Orthopaedics as well as Acutes and Trauma.We welcome applicantsfrom both experienced and new qualified ODP's /Nurses/ anaesthetic nurses.
You do not need any additional qualifications to be eligible for this post, but hold passion, enthusiasm and commitment to provide patient centred care.
A positive attitude to the continual improvement of patient care through research evidence.A willingness to supervise and teach junior staff and colleagues and share learning through clinical supervision.The ability to work as an integral member of the team.
Main duties of the job Maintain a high standard of patient focused care in accordance with York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust policies and proceduresMaintain a safe and clean working environmentProvide assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of nursing care for patients, ensuring accurate written records are kept.Communicate with patients and carers to ensure they have access to appropriate information.Promote and maintain positive relationships between all staff involved in the care of the patientAct in accordance with the Nursing and Midwifery Council Code of ConductUndertake duties on different wards/departments as and when required by service demandsDemonstrate personal responsibility for compliance with infection control policies and proceduresEducation and Training About us Our benefits We offer a range of benefits to support our staff including: Access to the NHS Pension Scheme, providing generous benefits upon retirement, as well as a lump sum and pension for dependants 27 days holiday rising to 33 days (depending on NHS Trust service) A generous relocation package of up to 30% of salary (capped at £18k) for hard to fill positions where relocation would be an expectation to undertake the role fully.

Person Specification Qualifications Essential Registered Nurse with current NMC registration (Level 1) or qualified Operating Department Practitioner with HCPC registration or Anaesthetic Nurse (ENB 182/183 or equivalent) Desirable Teaching qualification NVQ assessor Willingness to train as a mentor Experience Desirable Previous theatre experience at Band 5 Special Knowledge Essential Demonstrate awareness of current issues in health care Demonstrate awareness of NHS standards of Professional Practice Desirable Demonstrate awareness of theatre specialty, and/or specific needs of patients undergoing surgical procedures.
Demonstrates awareness of evidence based practice within a Theatre environment Demonstrates understanding of Health and Safety / COSHH
