Activus Recruitment are assisting our client, to source a Technician to join their Technical department at their depot in Dufftown, Moray.
You will be involved in testing aggregates, asphalt, concrete and lime materials.
Duties: Responsible under supervision for completing the day-to-day sampling, testing and reporting requirements as per the quality management system and in accordance with the relevant standards and guidance.
Main Tasks Responsible for promoting the overall Health, Safety and Welfare of all Technical Services personnel and others who are associated or affected by Technical Services activities and services.
Responsible for ensuring Risk Assessments and Safe Systems of Work for Technical Services activities are followed by themselves and other Technical Services staff working with them.
To ensure all accidents and near miss incidents are reported as per the company's health and safety systems.
Required to ensure any environmental incident is reacted upon immediately to ensure it's controlled, minimised, reported and appropriately cleaned up with spill kits etc.
Identify, encourage and carry out energy reduction initiatives.
Follow on a daily basis and in accordance with the standards required, the sampling and testing requirements of aggregates, asphalt, concrete, and lime materials across our quarries / sites and plants as per planned and instructed by Technical Supervisors / management.
Sample to maintain weekly rates of test above the minimum requirements laid down in the laboratory QMS.
Ensure any issues and findings are reported as soon as possible to the Technical Supervisor and that all test results are processed onto the appropriate trends for analysis as early as possible.
To follow the quality management systems and use the latest copies of guidance and British standards during sampling, testing and reporting procedures.
To mentor other Technicians as assigned in providing advice and assist them in their continuing training and competence.
Carry out regular Technical audits as per instructed in the audit plan in order to ensure other Technicians are sampling and testing accurately to the relevant guidance and standards.
Ensure only in calibration sampling and testing equipment is used, it is kept clean, in working order, inspected, looked after and returned to its designated location ready for use.
Notify the Technical Supervisor and remove any damaged or un-serviceable equipment.
Routinely calibrate sampling and testing equipment as instructed in order that it remains in calibration to be used.
Raise non-conformance reports (Client's) in conjunction with the Technical Supervisor / management and initiate corrective and preventative action to prevent or rectify any nonconformity.
React and instigate changes and measures introduced in the quality management system as appropriate.
Carry out your part in the daily housekeeping regime to ensure laboratory floors and work tops, outside area's and other areas used by Technical staff are cleared and cleaned every day.
Ensure Technical Services vehicles you use are cleaned inside and out regularly and in any case a minimum of weekly.
Make sure weekly vehicle defect sheets are completed daily and inform the Technical Supervisor of any unsafe vehicles and ensure they are taken out of service immediately.
Participate in quality / operational meetings as required.
Act in an independent manner with no bias to any party.
When required act as a main Technical contact for major contracts to ensure their requirements are met.
Responsible to collect and prepare samples required for submission to testing houses, are collected and prepared timeously as directed.
Be prepared to stand in to cover other Technical Services posts, commensurate with your experience and training if or when the need arises.
Support a team working philosophy with your work colleagues.
Act as an ambassador for the company ensuring visitors, customers and staff are communicated to in a polite, and courteous manner at all times.
