We are seeking an enthusiastic Technical Writer to join a small team working on new web applications that provide digital workspaces to high-profile clients.
This role will form part of the technical documentation side of development, working on creating the knowledge base for our web applications.
The content produced will be for both internal and external audiences, and will consist of web pages, videos and in-app tutorials and guides.
You will be working closely with the Product, Development and Training Teams.
Most of our development work is undertaken in Edinburgh, with a number of engineers working remotely from other countries.
You will be based in our new friendly office in central Edinburgh.
Working hours are flexible and hybrid working will be available.
We follow a light-touch agile process with a focus on delivery.
What you'll be doing Creating and updating content in the product knowledgebase, managing documentation development through 6-week release cycles.
Owning and maintaining release notes and the Product Definition Document (PDD).
Owning the structure and design of online support pages.
Working with our product and development teams to provide timely, accurate and consumable documentation.
Building a repository of in-app user support guides.
Contributing to the creation of training materials to support the client enablement team.
Acquiring a detailed knowledge of our products and solutions, and a deep understanding of end-user requirements.
Requirements What we're looking for in you 2+ years' experience of software technical writing experience, creating user-friendly, articulate, well-organized, consistent content from scratch, with a keen eye for detail.
Interest in the tech sector and movements in the documentation and communication landscape.
Familiarity with basic image capturing and editing in relation to technical documentation.
Proactively identify documentation needs and gaps, establish feedback loops to gather and drive improvement, and then work closely with key stakeholders to prioritize and plan documentation updates.
Experience using technical authoring software tools.
Background in or understanding of software architecture, SaaS and Agile development processes useful (coding experience is not necessary).
Strong ability to communicate, verbally and in writing, with a diverse range of people at all levels.
A talent for writing clearly, in plain English, to convey what are often complex technologies and processes.
Possess excellent content planning, editorial, and organisation skills.
Ability to work individually and within a team.
Ability to learn, research and use own initiative is essential.
