If not, candidates should detail in their application whether they have sought confirmation that they will be able to be registered with the GTCS.As well as the relevant qualifications and experience, qualities we are looking for in the successful candidate are: vision, energy, initiative, good communication skills and self-discipline.More detail is provided in the Job Profile, Person Specification and Conditions of Service Summary attached to the bottom of this advert.The hearing and communication service supports children from 0-19 who have identified hearing and/or communication support needs to access the curriculum.
The service works closely in partnership with local and national services, such as audiology and speech and language therapy.
The teacher would use and help embed the Total Communication approach to supporting learners.
The teacher would work alongside parents, schools and partner agencies providing advice, information and training, and contribute to pupil multi-agency planning meetings.
The teacher would liaise closely with NHS services to help embed recommended adaptations and support approaches to help learners achieve their potential.
There would be an expectation that the teacher would undertake all relevant specialist training to enable them to directly support and advise on support within mainstream settings.
Having experience in, or willingness to learn BSL as a priority would be an advantage.
There is a requirement to undertake training to become a qualified teacher of the Deaf following appointment.
Additional InformationThe grade of this post is TCHRSalary shown in the advert is inclusive of Distant Islands Allowance of £2, per annumPermanent Full Time post for 35.0 Hours per Week
