We will provide a 4 week supernumerary period and comprehensive training package, supported by our Educational facilitators.The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.This post is fixed term/secondment until 30th September 2025 due to secondment cover.

Main duties of the job We provide highly specialised care for a wide variety of patient groups within the haematology directorate.
Staff in this friendly and supportive team develop a wide range of advanced skills and knowledge by rotating between the 3 main areas of Day-care in UHW, UHL and 'Offsite Nurse-Led Chemotherapy Service'.Within these areas we care for and deliver treatment to patients with haematological disorders, including patients participating in clinical trials, throughout all stages of their cancer journey.We also provide holistic care for haemoglobinopathy patients, as well as follow-up and treatments for patients who have undergone high dose chemotherapy and bone marrow transplant.This exciting and dynamic nursing post will support people with haematological conditions from across Mid and South Wales.There may also be opportunities to work within the Haematology Ward and Transplant Unit, Haemophilia centre, Teenage Cancer Trust.Applicants are encouraged to visit the unit prior to application and interview.

Job description Job responsibilities The Band 5 nurse will undertake a range of clinical duties and you will be developed to undertake the following skills including: Venepuncture.Cannulation.Administration of IV blood products and chemotherapy.VAD access.Training will be provided to ensure and maintain competence in the relevant clinical skills.The Band 5 nurse will work alongside and be supported by a team of Band 6 and Band 7 Clinical Nurse Specialists.Deliver care in an outpatient setting.Develop skills to work within the wider MDT to deliver holistic, patient centered care.
