Main duties of the job PurposeTo provide a Speech and Language service by assessing, implementing (by self or junior staff) and evaluating programmes of person centred care as part of the multi-disciplinary team.
To demonstrate clinical, technical and research skills through breadth and depth of knowledge.
To liaise with internal and external professionals, family members and People We Support.This role carries no line management responsibilities, but the post holder will have a responsibility to mentor and supervise more junior members of the teamThe post holder will be expected to work effectively with the Therapy team, the nursing teams and the wider Multi-Disciplinary TeamResponsible for working alongside and/or supporting volunteers, assistants, and students within their team About us Brainkind are a Disability Confident Employer.

Job description Job responsibilities Key ResponsibilitiesClinical / Professional PracticeTo work within a specialist clinical area as an autonomous professional with support and supervision (which may be remote) from a more senior SaLT for more complex cases.
To accept professional accountability and responsibility.To apply the specialist neurorehabilitation model, demonstrating knowledge of current research findings, and best practice in the field.With supervision as required, to manage a caseload of People We Support with complex mental/physical health needs and/or challenging behaviour.To use evidence-based practice, service user centred principles and clinical reasoning to assess, plan, implement and evaluate intervention.With supervision as required, undertake comprehensive assessments, considering environment, context and future plans, of PeopleWe Support in order to formulate appropriate:Rehabilitation goalsCare plansCommunication and dysphagia therapy programmesReferralsCommunication partner training Person Specification Qualifications Essential Experience, Skills and Ability Use of evidence based practice and outcome measures.
Knowledge and application of Speech and Language assessments and interventions using clinical reasoning.
Knowledge of models of practice and assessment tools relevant to discipline & clinical area.
Knowledge of evidence-based practice and how to apply to clinical practice.
An ability to work autonomously and to set own and support others priorities.
An ability to confidently assess and manage risk in relation to physical performance.
An ability to organise, coordinate and respond efficiently to complex information.
At least one years experience in management of dysphagia.
Awareness of current legislation and professional ethics and their application in practice.
Knowledge of relevant legislation and its impact on current practice.
Ability to build effective working relationships.
Desirable Competent IT skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Desirable experience of working in a relevant setting, which can include practice placements.
