Job summary An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Speech and Language Therapist to join our Speech and Language Therapy inpatient Stroke Service.
ECCH Speech and Language Therapy are a small supportive team of very experienced therapists who provide both the acute inpatient service to the James Paget Hospital including regular SLT led videofluoroscopy clinics and the community outpatient service for a range of acquired communication and swallowing difficulties.Ifyou are aged between 16-30 and not currently in education, employment ortraining, our colleagues at the Norfolk and Waveney Integrated Care Board(supported by the Princes Trust), can provide application and interviewcoaching.

Main duties of the job This post will be based on the James Paget University Hospital Stroke Unit, a 30 bed unit which provides hyper-acute, acute and inpatient Stroke rehabilitation.
You will be supported by senior colleagues to provide inpatient assessment and rehabilitation for clients with communication and swallowing difficulties post Stroke and where appropriate, outliers on the acute wards You will liaise closely with our Early Supported Discharge Team SLT.
A post graduate qualification in dysphagia whilst desirable is not essential as this can be offered when in post.

Person Specification Skills and Knowledge Essential Highly developed auditory and perceptual skills for use in all areas of practice Ability to plan treatment packages for patients with communication difficulties Ability to apply knowledge of theory and clinical issues/ developments to clinical practice Ability to communicate effectively with patients with communication impairment Ability to identify own strengths and needs in relation to post Ability to form appropriate working relationships with patients and carers/ family Ability to work within a team Good knowledge of legal requirements/ governments initiatives which may influence practice.
