Job summary To provide Specialty Doctor support in the General Medicine (GM) Department with responsibility for the diagnosis and treatment of patients on GIM wards.
The post holder will gain a wide range of experience in all aspects of work within the GM.
He/she will be expected to work as a middle grade doctor covering GM wards.
There will always be consultant available for supervision.
During this time the post holder will work primarily in GM areas at RSUH.
This post has been created to provide dedicated middle grade support to the GM service at UHNM.
Main duties of the job You will join an enthusiastic and dedicated team, working alongside the Consultants, other Specialty doctors, Junior training fellows and nursing team.
The job plan will be flexible enough to accommodate preferences of the post holder for subspecialty experience including out-patient clinics and inpatient medical sub-specialty experience.
You will be expected to rotate through duties and responsibilities with other middle grade doctors in the GM ward.
In addition, you will be required to participate in audit, teaching, training and research.

Person Specification Essential Essential MBBS or equivalent Full GMC registration Desirable Awards / distinctions whilst studying for 1st degree Academic and extra-curricular achievements ALS certification Essential Essential Foundation competencies or equivalent for those with full GMC registration 3 years continuous post qualification experience will need to include general medicine / medical specialty experience Desirable Presented evidence of experience to date supported by references Senior Fellows will have appropriate skills and experience to demonstrate in the chosen specialty minimum equivalent to ST3 Skills Essential Proven ability to work as a member of a team is prudent and the ability to organise and prioritise busy workloads effectively and cope under pressure is crucial Ability to communicate effectively with patients, senior medical staff and other health professionals is vital Proficient and efficient handling of medical problems with evidence of safe sound practical procedures Personal Characteristics Essential Evidence of continuing professional updating Highly motivated individual Demonstrates a clear reason for wanting this post Desirable Certificate of Good Standing from current medical council and references from institutional email of referees
