Job summary We arelooking for an enthusiastic, experienced, Occupational Therapist to join ourcommunity team on a permanent basis.
Thepost is full time, but we would consider part-time and flexible workingoptions.Come andjoin a passionate, innovative and child-centred therapy team based at The SaltWay Centre in West Swindon.
Salt Way isa specialist centre for childrens therapies Physiotherapy, Occupationaltherapy and Speech & Language therapy, the disabled childrens social workteam and a specialist early years centre for children with complex needs.We work withchildren from 0-18 years with a wide range of conditions in a variety ofsettings.
These include clinics,patients homes, mainstream and special schools.
Main duties of the job You would beresponsible for managing a varied caseload of children and young peopleincluding the delivery of specialist educational provision.
Candidates must be able to demonstrate abroad range of clinical experience and be ready to develop specialist clinicalskills in paediatric Occupational Therapy.
Training and support is provided byexperienced clinicians to support your ongoing development.

Job description Job responsibilities Key AccountabilitiesSkills for assessing & interpreting patient /client conditions, appropriate diagnosis, develop and implement OT programmes, providing advice to clients/ carers and other disciplines.
To use assessment skills to identify and prescribe equipment to meet the needs of the individual child or young person.
To demonstrate Communication & Relationship Skills, Provide and receive complex, sensitive diagnostic & prognostic information to patients/ clients, carers & relatives : to be able to sensitively take a case history, recognise barriers to communication and capture Children and young people voice.
To demonstrate Planning & Organisational Skills: Plans & prioritises own & section patient workload, training sessions; plans and organises specialist service.
To provide a high quality and an effective paediatric occupational therapy interventions for children attending special or mainstream schools, at home, in school or in clinic settings.
Develops & implements occupational therapy programmes within a specialist field trauma, rehabilitation, mental health.
Proposes and implements policy in own area of practice.
As a member of the paediatric therapy team, to work as part of the multidisciplinary team, to work as part of the team recognising the individual roles of the other team members and working in partnership with them Allocates work to team members; supervises students/ provides training in specialist area Autonomous practitioner, works within codes of practice, guidelines/ may be lead specialist, may lead team, will be responsible for a caseload in the community.
Participates in clinical audits; researches / tests different types of aids To be responsible for the safe use of equipment.
