Job summary Derbyshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust have an exciting opportunity for a Specialist Fire Safety Advisor to join the Health, Safety, Fire & Security Team.
The role will be working across all sites of DHCFT within Derbyshire.
The post holder will support the Head of Health & Safety, Fire and Security in relation to fire safety issues with specific reference to the NHS Firecode standards and the requirements of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005.The successful candidate will provide professional advice on all fire safety / prevention matters relating to staff, patients and premises.
To undertake Specialist Fire Safety Risk Assessments, fire evacuation procedures and to provide specialist advice to the Trust Fire Safety Manager.
The post holder will also develop and deliver fire safety training in line with the training needs analysis for the Trust, this will include face to face, e-learning and fire evacuation training to ensure compliance with all relevant Fire Safety legislation and guidance, in particular the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 and related Department of Health, Health Technical Memorandums (Firecode).
The above will apply to all Trust sites including areas that work in other Trusts buildings.

Person Specification Attainment & Qualification Essential Educated to degree level or able to demonstrate equivalent level of fire safety management competency Professional qualification in discipline related to fire engineering or safety Experience of further academic/personal development Proven knowledge of the fire risk assessment process Desirable Member of the Institute of Fire Engineers or Institute of Fire Prevention Officers Member of the National Association of Healthcare Fire Officers Qualified training instructor Holder of NEBOSH (Gen Cert) or CFPA Diploma in Fire Prevention Basic Knowledge of Health and Safety legislation Skills Essential Effective influencing and communication skills and an ability to deal with staff at all levels Good report writing skills Good standard IT skills Microsoft Office Ability to develop and deliver effective training programmes, both written and orally Ability to work as part of a team & independently Able to meet deadlines Able to translate mandatory regulations and advisory guidance into advice that is both sound and practical Ability to assimilate, analyse & present data Ability to assess risks; identifies necessary actions; make recommendations and ensure action plans have been implemented.
Knowledge & Experience Essential Extensive fire safety/prevention experience gained in Fire Brigade/Armed Forces/ Healthcare and/or Local Fire Authority or comparable industrial organisation Proven knowledge of Healthcare Fire Safety: Firecode Thorough detailed knowledge of Fire Safety legislation and management systems Experience in the development and delivery of training courses Experience of undertaking investigations and preparing reports on fire incidents Extensive knowledge and experience in the application of Fire code and the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, its practical implications and application.
Practical knowledge and familiar with the interpretation of the Building Regulations Working knowledge of: fire safety, fire risk management and risk techniques, fire legislation, relevant statues, codes of practice, British Standards and fire safety training Working proven knowledge of the types of hazardous and toxic chemicals and materials including radioactive sources and substances that are present within premises.
Willingness to undertake appropriate training to enhance skills and professional development, where necessary travelling and staying away Ability to manage and prioritise own workload, self-motivated & enthusiastic with a proactive approach to problem solving Good time management Accuracy and attention to detail Ability to motivate others and to deliver to sometimes challenging outcomes Engage with external clients/partners/stakeholders ( Patients, Health and Social Care Practitioners, individuals and representatives bodies) to gain their necessary level of contribution & commitment to the successful delivery of your work.
