Software Project Lead

Job Title: Software Project Lead (Low-Level Software) Salary: Circa £72,000 (depending on experience) Location: Bristol (Relocation package may be available for this role) Working Pattern: Dynamic (hybrid) – typically 4 days per week on-site, based on workload requirements.
Security Clearance: Must be a British citizen or hold dual UK nationality with British citizenship.
Security Requirements: Restrictions may apply regarding nationality or right to work in the UK.
Successful candidates will undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard checks (BPSS) after the offer stage.
About the Role: Our Client's Embedded Software team delivers cutting-edge, real-time software solutions for the next generation of missile systems.
This exciting opportunity offers a pathway to build both technical and leadership expertise across an innovative product range.
What Youll Do: Lead a skilled team of engineers specialising in real-time software development.
Oversee development and delivery of embedded missile software, ensuring quality, timeliness, and cost-efficiency.
Collaborate closely with multi-disciplinary teams to achieve technical excellence in software production.
Implement and monitor software development plans throughout the project lifecycle.
Provide progress updates to keep stakeholders informed.
Engage effectively with diverse stakeholders across various levels and nationalities.
What Youll Bring: Proven experience in leading engineering teams, particularly in real-time software development.
Strong project management skills with a track record of meeting quality and timeline goals.
Ability to work collaboratively across disciplines, maintaining high technical standards.
Desired (But Not Essential) Skills: Familiarity with real-time embedded software technology.
Knowledge of SysML/UML and programming languages such as C, C++, or Ada.
Experience in high-technology environments where quality and accuracy are paramount.
Understanding of standards like DefStan 00-55 and DO178B/C.
Significant software development experience will be considered as potential for development into this role.
