MSCI is transforming its critical analytical applications into a modern ecosystem of high-performance and scalable services. We are seeking highly skilled and motivated engineers who are eager to help us create, select and utilize the best technology to accelerate improvements to our platforms. This senior position is in the Analytics systems development group and will focus on delivering new capabilities to our clients, overhauling architecture, improving our code base, investigating issues, and fixing bugs. You will join a multi-year effort to modularize our code, factor out critical services into separate components, work towards a high-performance data architecture, migrate to a modern elastic execution environment (on-prem and in the cloud), address security issues, and adopt current standards and best-practice approaches.
We require a lead software engineer who is happy to work across a large code base and keen to make a difference. They should recognize when they can reuse, refactor, or start afresh - and make recommendations accordingly. Performance and scale must be central to their approach. In this role you will be an active member of a globally distributed technical leadership team. It will be hands-on - using your expertise in software development to contribute and improve our code base as well as leading, mentoring, and coaching other team members. You will work on a mixture of short-term items (bugs, features) as well as longer-term initiatives and strategic projects. You will be expected to lead design discussions, manage code reviews, and create a culture of quality leading to performant and tested solutions.
