Service Director: Adult Social Care

Details of the offer

Cambridgeshire is a great place to work and live, with a diverse population, an urban centre in Cambridge, the historic Isle of Ely, Huntingdon and St Ives as well as more rural landscapes. Though large areas of the county are pretty low-lying, you'll find the atmosphere at the Council anything but flat.
Our vision is to create a greener, fairer and more caring Cambridgeshire, and we're already making significant progress towards this objective. If you're ready to bring your professional experience and skills to a well-managed and high-performing organisation, with a strong and ambitious culture of continuous improvement, we want to hear from you.
Elected members across the Council have made a public commitment to setting a benchmark in social care, so you'll be joining an organisation which wants to succeed just as much as you do. Our scale and reach mean that we have genuine system-shaping potential, and we're looking for someone who can realise the significant impact we believe is possible.
You'll provide inspirational strategic leadership to a strong, quality-assured operating model, delivering and commissioning high-quality universal and specialist services within localities. You'll ensure that people with social care needs – whatever their circumstances or stage of life – have access to personalised, flexible, integrated care and support that promotes independence, supports quality of life, dignity and choice and is underpinned by an absolute commitment to safeguarding.
Candidates will be experienced, respected and qualified leaders in adult services, and you must be highly knowledgeable and credible across the full range of senior accountabilities within the field. Our model is rooted in a focus on place, and you must understand how to maximise the effectiveness of this approach. Highly developed team management skills are essential, and your track record must include enabling a dedicated and skilled workforce to achieve a step-change in outcomes. Deft partnership building to maximise the opportunities of a whole system approach, as well as the ability to influence systems, complete your toolkit; and you'll be personally motivated by working within a positive self-improving culture.
