About the role The Senior UK Research Hub Manager is a vital role within the Hub, project managing the research, communications and translational strategy and progress, risks, finance and operational responsibility to ensure that our ambitious research programme is delivered on time and within budget, and compliant with all university and funder ethical and legal requirements.
The role is accountable to the PI, Directors and Management Committee and will interact with a wide range of stakeholders along with working collaboratively with internal and external organisations within academic, governmental and industry sectors.The Senior UK Research Hub Manager will work together with the Q-BIOMED Hub Communications Manager and Business Development Manager, forming the Strategic Operations team.The role is based at the London Centre for Nanotechnology at UCL and reports to Professor McKendry Q-BIOMED (PI) and Co-Director.
The role is funded for five years until November .
About you Applicants should have a post-graduate qualification in a discipline of relevance to quantum and health, with strong domain knowledge (early disease diagnosis, interventions) and their deployment into industry and health systems.They will have outstanding interpersonal and influencing skills, including diplomacy and discretion, and the ability and confidence to liaise with staff and external individuals at any level of seniority across academia, NHS, policy makers and industry both in the UK and internationally.
The applicants will need to be highly collaborative, able to work with colleagues in a wide variety of contexts and to prioritise workloads to meet conflicting deadlines to deliver results that take into account the widest needs of the Hub.They should have substantial leadership experience managing projects of this scale and complexity, of leading large multidisciplinary multicentre grants at the scale of a £24M Hub and within a research -intensive environment, mitigating risks.
The ability to project manage complex scientific or interdisciplinary research spanning the fields of quantum, physics, chemistry, engineering and medicine is essential.Experience successfully managing people as well as managing and tracking complex budgets, overheads, flexible budgets, secondments and external partners is also required.The appointment at Grade 8 will be at a salary of £52, – £61, per annum plus London Allowance, reflecting the seniority of the role.Informal enquiries regarding the vacancy can be made to Jo McHugh, .Interviews are likely to be held between 11th and 13th December.
