Senior Social Care Practitioner - Wirral based About the Role We are helping a children's residential home find a Senior Social Care Practitioner to provide practical day-to-day care for children (mainly teenagers) in a loving and supportive way.
Responsibilities As a Senior Social Care Practitioner, you will lead on shift, making informed decisions and supporting colleagues to develop their skills and knowledge.
Quickly establish trusting relationships with children which enable their growth and development.
Organise, participate in and plan shared activities and interests with children to nurture their wellbeing, learning and growth.
If you have extra skills that you can utilise to engage, teach, distract, and relate, then so much the better - musicians, artists, cooks, gardeners, and coders are all welcome.
Support children to achieve their educational potential by working directly with them to support attendance and learning, and with other professionals to ensure they get the support they need.
Learn to create a therapeutic environment for children through using techniques to improve their self-regulation, their emotional wellbeing and connectedness to others.
Maintain accurate records that are objective and strengths-based in relation to children and check the records kept by colleagues.
Take responsibility for ensuring the health and safety of children by maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment.
Safeguard and promote the welfare of the children living in the home, taking practical steps to ensure their safety.
This includes identifying, recording, and reporting any risk of harm or child protection concerns in accordance with policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
Be responsible for and support children's physical health and wellbeing, including helping them access medical services, and administering medication or first aid as necessary.
Be willing and capable to take part in Juno-approved physical intervention training, with a focus on de-escalation.
Once you have successfully passed your induction period, you may be asked to be a Shift Leader, ensuring that the shift runs smoothly and all tasks are completed.
You will be expected to take a problem-solving approach and you will lead the shift handover to the next shift.
Qualifications At least 1 year of experience in working in children's residential care with children and young people.
Level 3 Diploma in Children's Residential Care (or equivalent) Required Skills Knowledge of children's rights and of adolescent mental health and therapeutic approaches including trauma-informed practice.
An understanding of the risks and issues facing children in care.
An understanding of how to keep children safe and protect them from abuse, neglect, exploitation or other types of harm.
Pay range and compensation package £14.42/hour, £60 sleep rate Expected annual salary: up to £33,000 Work schedule Full-time, permanent 1 on, 2 off shift pattern (average 10 shifts/month) / 2 on, 4 off shift pattern (average 5 shifts/month) If you would like to receive the full job pack or have any questions feel free to contact ******.
