Position Summary A leading US law firm is looking for a Senior Risk & Compliance Lawyer to manage regulatory compliance across its London and European offices.
The role will ensure adherence to UK and EU regulations, including anti-money laundering (AML), data protection, and legal practice standards.
You will collaborate closely with global teams to implement and maintain effective compliance frameworks.
Key Responsibilities of the Senior Risk & Compliance Counsel Compliance Advisory: Serve as the primary compliance advisor for the London office, providing strategic guidance on regulatory matters, including SRA regulations, AML, and GDPR.
Regulatory Compliance: Oversee compliance with UK legal practice standards, including the SRA Code of Conduct, and manage the firm's insider list process Client Onboarding & Due Diligence: Lead the client due diligence and AML verification process for European and global matters.
Risk Management & Reporting: Maintain risk registers and provide regular updates to senior management on compliance matters, including risks, breaches, and audit findings.
Training & Development: Develop and deliver compliance training programs for staff, ensuring ongoing education on relevant legal and regulatory changes.
Requirements of the Senior Risk & Compliance Counsel A qualified lawyer with significant experience in a senior compliance role within a law firm, with expertise in regulatory compliance (AML, SRA, GDPR, etc.).
Proven ability to lead compliance initiatives and manage teams across multiple jurisdictions.
Strong communication and analytical skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders and ensure compliance across a global organisation.
