Job summary We are looking for a registered therapist, counsellor or wellbeing practitioner to lead a team of Link Workers and counsellors to deliver person centred outcome focused evidence-based interventions for Children Looked After (CLA) experiencing moderate mental health difficulties.
To support them to improve their emotional health and build resilience in contribution to the agreed individual desired outcomes of each referral.You will be an experience Senior practitioner or looking for career progression and have CYP and CLA ore related experience.Swindon is a vibrant city close to Bristol, this role is ideal for someone who wants to relocate or knows the area and is looking for progression.
Main duties of the job You will support a team of Counsellorsand Link Workers to deliver person centred outcome focused evidence-basedinterventions for Children Looked After (CLA) experiencing moderate mentalhealth difficulties.
To support them toimprove their emotional health and build resilience in contribution to the agreedindividual desired outcomes of each referral.Supporting the Service Lead indesigning and implementing innovative client focussed plans to supportsuccessful care pathways and sustainable placements and reunifications.

Job description Job responsibilities Main Duties and responsibilities: Utilising analytical skills, specialist knowledge and experience provide a comprehensive assessment and formulation of the presenting problem considering the childs educational attainment, chronological/ developmental stage, inner world / emotional wellbeing, the mental health & wellbeing of the childs parents/carers, the family dynamics and environment, and the broader social context including school.
Develop a planned short-term intervention utilising behavioural, cognitive, psychodynamic, and systemic perspectives as indicated by the formulation, the needs of the client and the evidence base.
To supervise team members in the delivery of short to medium term therapeutic interventions to CLA, working independently which may at times mean lone working.
To develop alternatives to one-to-one therapeutic work , group work, play therapy To facilitate peer support with and for children and young people.
To maintain confidential case notes and records in a timely manner ensuring that these are stored securely using the specified case management systems.
To develop links to other agencies and services and have a good understanding of local services for signposting and onward referrals.
To positively manage risk and recognise and pro-actively respond to child protection and safeguarding issues.
Communication Be able to communicate and engage with children and young people appropriate to individual needs.
Ensure young people feel listened to, feel in control, and are respected.
Effective team communicator.
Skills & Competencies required: An experienced and qualified mental health practitioner supervisor used to a fast-paced environment and supporting a team of counsellors.
Experienced in working with children and young people across mental health settings and care placements and experienced in engaging the whole family / services also supporting the client.
Confident in supporting / offering interventions to children and young people presenting moderate risk behaviours.
Able to build strong therapeutic relationships in a short period of time.
Positive and proactive to achieve the highest standards and outcomes in engagement with children, young people, their parent/carers and professionals.
Adept in communication and confident communicating with CYP (Children and Young Peoples), their parents/carers and health professionals.
Open, respectful, committed to equality and inclusiveness and motivated by new ideas and perspectives.

Job Specific Requirements Essential Work flexibly and adapt to suit service need.

Enhanced DBS check.
Qualifications Essential Professional registration with recognised National Body (HCPC, NMC, BACP, BABCP BASW, TRA), Cognitive Behavioural Therapist (CBT qualification) or other therapy qualifications.
Desirable Professional qualification and background in one of the following areas: Clinical Psychologist, Counselling Psychologist, Psychotherapists, Mental Health Nurse, Social Worker, OT.
Qualified to provide regular clinical supervision to counselling team.
Experience Essential Demonstrate significant post-qualification experience.
Confident in triage and assessment of CYP, supporting / offering interventions to children and young people presenting mild to moderate risk behaviours.
Knowledge of safety factors in management of self-harming behaviours.
A good working knowledge of principles underlying psychodynamic, systemic, cognitive and behavioural therapies.
Knowledge of development in CYP, family development and of transitions.
Minimum of 2-year experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team environment.
Experienced in managing a caseload and supporting counsellors to do so effectively.
Ability to recognise and respond to concerns about child protection and safeguarding.
Ability to make use of supervision.
Up to date knowledge of CYP emotional wellbeing / early mental health clinical evidence-based practice and support for parents/carers.
Desirable Experience within the CLA sector.
Experience in roles requiring strong leadership skills.
Worked in a service where agreed targets are in place to demonstrate clinical outcomes.
Experience in coordinating volunteers / peer support workers.
Experience in quality improvement measures.
Experience in pathway development.
Experience in delivering training and workshops to CYP and parents / carers.
Experience in delivering training to professionals.
Experience in running peer support groups.
Experience in providing supervision.
Knowledge of audit and evaluation methodology.
