Centre for Tropical Medicine and Global Health, Li Ka Shing Centre for Health and Information Discovery, Old Road Campus, Headington, Oxford, OX3 7LF We have an exciting opportunity to recruit a Senior Postdoctoral Researcher to join one of our many fantastic research groups within the Centre for Tropical Medicine and Global Health, Nuffield Department of Medicine.
Reporting to the Principal Investigator, Professor Deirdre Hollingsworth, you will be a member of a research group responsible for carrying out research for a discrete area of a large project.
You will be leading research modelling the transmission dynamics of neglected tropical diseases, with a particular focus on trachoma, lymphatic filariasis, or schistosomiasis, but also working on cross-disease research, such as diagnostics, sampling, targeting interventions, etc.
You will be responsible for developing research questions within a specific context, conducting individual research, analysing detailed and complex qualitative and quantitative data from a variety of sources, and generating original ideas by building on existing concepts.
You will be tasked with regularly writing research articles at a national level for peer-reviewed journals, book chapters, and reviews.
Presenting papers at national conferences, and leading seminars to disseminate research findings.
You will be sharing responsibility for shaping the research group's plans and the writing of group funding applications for new research projects and representing the research group at external meetings/seminars, either with other members of the group or alone.
You will also be responsible for carrying out collaborative projects with colleagues in partner institutions, and research groups.
To be successful in this role, you will hold a relevant PhD/DPhil in Infectious Disease Modelling, Mathematical Modelling, Statistical Modelling, or a related field, together with post-relevant experience.
You will have sufficient specialist knowledge in infectious disease modelling to develop research projects and methodologies and be able to raise research funds through making grant applications.
You will also have the ability to independently plan and manage a research project, including a research budget.
