Job summary Are you an enthusiastic and motivated Occupational Therapist looking for a rewarding opportunity?The position will be based at Marlborough House in Milton Keynes, a 28-bedded male medium secure forensic unit.
The unit comprises of 2 wards, an acute assessment ward and also a rehabilitation-focused ward.This role includes RSU Allowance of £1,446 per annum on top of your salary plus a recruitment incentive package for external applicants of £3,500 (terms and conditions apply) Main duties of the job To manage a varied and, at times, complex case load.To provide occupational therapy that is evidence-based and follows client-centred principles.
This will include assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating the outcome of interventions and documenting all stages of the process.To provide leadership for junior/non-registered staff as appropriate to the post, through supervision and appraisal, delegating responsibilities as appropriate.To participate in the planning, development and evaluation of the Occupational Therapy service within a designated area/team, holding responsibility and taking a leading role for defined projects or specialist interventions.To participate effectively as a full member of the multi-disciplinary team.To contribute to the maintenance and development of the trust-wide Occupational Therapy service and local multi-disciplinary team.To actively participate in the education of occupational therapy students.Pro-actively engaging in teaching/presentations of specialist skills both within the Trust and for continuing professional development events/activities.

Person Specification Qualifications Essential Professional registration with the Health and Care Professions Council Diploma/Degree in Occupational Therapy Experience Essential Experience of working in mental health, as an Occupational Therapist preferably within a range of settings, including forensics Extensive clinical experience including individual and group work Skills Essential Effective written and verbal communication skills such as negotiating, motivating and supporting Supervisory skills and/or appraisal skills
