We are seeking a Senior Ecologist for an exciting opportunity to join a growing property and infrastructure consultancy focused on environment, ecology, planning, and sustainability.
About the job: You'll be based in Lichfield on a hybrid-working basis offering up to 3 days per week WFH (plus flexible working hours and TOIL policy) joining a fun, friendly, and forward-thinking team.
Within this role you'll be leading and supporting a team of Ecologists in supporting clients across a wide range of different sectors.
This will include: Leading and delivering complex contracts Advising clients of constraints and survey requirements Co-ordinating and undertaking protected species surveys and mitigation projects Preparing ecology chapters for Environmental Impact Assessments Identifying and exploring commercially efficient and cost-effective project solutions for clients and their design teams Drafting high-quality reports and reviewing technical work Contributing to business development strategy delivery by costing and tendering for work and finding new ways for the business to grow This is a great opportunity to join a thriving consultancy with a purpose- and people-led culture, putting collaboration, inclusion and an ethical approach at the heart of all their work.
Salary is circa £30,000 - £35,000 per annum, plus benefits including 26 days annual leave plus bank hols - rising to 29 days over 3 years (1 day per year of service), enhanced maternity pay, excellent training and opportunities for career development, cycle to work scheme, socials, games nights and volunteering days.
About you: To apply for this role you will need: A degree-level qualification in a relevant subject and professional membership 4+ years UK Ecology experience Project and team management experience Excellent knowledge of UK and European environmental legislation Excellent fieldwork and report writing skills including protected species surveys, EPSM applications, ES chapters, and ecological management plans Ideally at least one Protected Species or Conservation Licence, or be working towards Experienced in client and stakeholder engagement Full clean UK driving licence and CSCS card Specialisation in botany and/or FISC Level 4 would also be highly advantageous.
