Your role will involve designing play activities that are both therapeutic and enjoyable ensuring that each session meets the unique needs of the students.
Facilitate therapeutic play sessions aimed at promoting social skills emotional regulation and communication.
Through structured and unstructured play you will help students develop essential life skills and build confidence in their interactions with peers.
Monitor and document student progress during therapeutic activities providing valuable insights to the teaching and support staff about individual development.
Your observations will contribute to the ongoing assessment of students emotional and social growth allowing for tailored interventions.
Work closely with therapists and educators to implement specific playbased strategies and interventions that align with individual education plans (IEPs).
Collaboration will ensure that all students receive a holistic approach to their learning and emotional needs.
Engage in training and professional development opportunities focused on play therapy and best practices in supporting children with emotional challenges.
Staying informed about the latest therapeutic techniques will enhance your ability to support students effectively.
Foster a positive and supportive atmosphere where students feel safe to express themselves and explore their feelings through play.
Your encouragement and guidance will help build trusting relationships that are crucial for effective therapy.
Provide feedback and insights to parents and guardians regarding their childs progress and participation in play therapy sessions helping to bridge communication between home and school and ensuring a cohesive support network for each child.
Experience & Qualifications Previous experience in play therapy child development or a related field is beneficial.
A background in education psychology or social work may also be advantageous providing a solid foundation for understanding childrens emotional needs.
A creative and patient approach to engaging students in meaningful play activities is essential.
Your ability to adapt play strategies to meet individual student needs will be key to fostering engagement and participation.
Excellent interpersonal skills and a genuine passion for working with children with special educational needs.
Your empathetic nature will help students feel valued and understood in their therapeutic journey.

A current and clear Enhanced DBS check is required to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all students in your care.
