Job summary Vacancies have arisen to join our newly created Security Team, as a Security Operative.
Working within a dedicated team to provide a 24-hour Security Service at all three University Hospitals Dorset Trust sites.
You will need to work across all sites as required.
Royal Bournemouth HospitalPoole HospitalChristchurch (Macmillan Unit Interview Date: TBC Main duties of the job Duties include: To act as part of the wider Trust teams working on the prevention and reduction of criminal acts and where necessary responding with those teams to acts of violence and aggression.
To provide efficient and effective 24-hour 7-day week patrols of the internal and external infrastructure of the Trust sites.
To provide help and advice to Patients, Visitors and Staff.
To support excellent patient care The position is full time, working as part of a rota including weekend and Bank Holidays over a 24-hour period.
Flexibility is required to cover colleague shifts due to leave and sickness.
You will have excellent communication and customer care skills, as a large part of the role will bring you into daily contact with patients, visitors and staff from a wide range of differing backgrounds.
A willingness to undertake training as legislation or the role requires is also essential.
Previous experience of a similar role would be an advantage.

Job description Job responsibilities Perform regular security patrols of the Trust grounds, buildings and car parks offering help and advice as required being a visible deterrent to criminal activity and anti-social behaviour.Apply PMVA de-escalation techniques as required up to and including application of restrains as a last resort.Undertake all relevant training to meet current and future evolving legislation.Provide escort duties as required to patients, visitors, and staff.Monitor CCTV cameras, ensuring compliance with the Code of Practice and Procedures Manual.Assist in incident investigation as directed by the Trust Security LeadMonitor associated Security equipment to identify any faults or damage and carry out basic repair/maintenance where required.
Reporting faults as requiredRespond to reports of persons trapped in lifts, providing reassurance and assistance as required.To utilise the use of two-way radios, bleep system, telephone, and intercoms as an efficient means of communication.Undertake any further Departmental duties to reflect an effective, evolving health care service.
(This may include transfer of patients and the deceased in support of the Portering function) Person Specification Qualifications Essential A good general standard of education with basic literacy and numeracy skills Desirable GCSE English and Maths level 4 or equivalent Awareness of the Community Safety Accreditation Scheme Ability to meet SIA licence requirements Experience Essential Experience in a security role Experience of working within a customer service environment.
Desirable Knowledge of working with CCTV systems and related legislation.
Knowledge Essential Working without direct supervision.
Other requirements specific to the role Desirable Current Full Driving Licence Technical Skills Competencies Essential Ability to work as part of a team.
Ability to work alone for prolonged periods.
Ability to work under pressure.
Desirable Security - access control, IT Customer Care Ability to use a computer for basic tasks using standard windows operating system.
