The position We are seeking a Scientific Product Owner for Laboratory Informatics to lead the development and improvement of our lab informatics solutions at the research site in Oxford, UK.
Our future colleague will mainly support R&ED scientists in target identification and validation using digital solutions at the Oxford research site.
Furthermore, this role involves taking responsibility for an existing lab data capturing platform used globally, developing a vision and roadmap for digital solutions, leading an interdisciplinary product team, and building strong relationships across the R&ED organization.
As a Scientific Product Owner in Lab Informatics, you will have the opportunity to: Support R&ED scientists in target identification and validation by leveraging global and local digital solutions at the Oxford research site.
Take responsibility for the existing lab data capturing platform for target validation used globally and developing a vision and roadmap for this and adjacent digital solutions.
Lead an interdisciplinary agile product team, collaborating with global IT and diverse R&ED stakeholders to realize the vision.
Contribute to modernizing the global research informatics and data management landscape, adhering to FAIR principles.
Collaborate with R&ED scientists across therapeutic areas and liaise with other product teams to maximize the value of lab informatics solutions utilized at the Oxford research site.
This position is located at our Oxford office and requires a physical presence in the office for 2-3 days per week to be near R&ED laboratory scientists.
Additionally, the role involves occasional international travel, up to 15% per year.
Qualifications To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates with the following qualifications: PhD or equivalent in Life Sciences, Biology, Chemistry, or related fields.
Alternatively, a BSc/MSc and demonstrated industry experience.
Broad expertise encompassing research data management, scientific digital solutions, and hands-on technical work.
Solid knowledge in a scripting language such as Python, R, or similar for scientific data transformation and analysis.
Working experience with lab informatics platforms from vendors like Benchling, Dotmatics, IDBS, Revvity, or similar.
Experience in configuring, administering, and maintaining digital solutions in the life-science research domain.
You are solution-oriented, a quick learner, and open to explore and learn new digital tools & technologies.
The department You'll be part of the Scientific Digital Capabilities department within Digital Science & Innovation (DSI) with the mission to provide digital solutions for Novo Nordisk R&D researchers, driving data-driven decisions and accelerating breakthroughs in medicine.
The department consists of Business Capability Leads, Product Managers and Owners – a team of highly motivated digital experts with both scientific and technical knowledge.
They have the skills to create, own, and disseminate the vision and roadmap for impactful digital solutions and are key players during the design, implementation, and operation phase to accelerate digitalization across R&D. While working in different product teams in a scaled agile framework, focussed on delivery, the Scientific Product Owner team brings together individuals with similar competencies and capabilities, allowing for optimal skill development and knowledge sharing.
