Main duties of the job The post-holder will participate with colleagues to maintain a rota of cover 8am to 8pm over a 5 day period dealing with a wide range of health needs in a primary care setting across a portfolio of services that Bloomfield currently runs.

We provide high quality general medical careto a registered list of over 16,500 patients over the two sites, through ourdedicated team of clinical, administrative and management professionalsincluding 8 GP Partners, Salaried doctors, Clinical Pharmacists, NursePractitioners, Practice Nurses and Healthcare Assistants.Bloomfield currently runs; Bloomfield Medical Centre, Grange Park Surgery, Blackpool Urgent Treatment Centre and Blackpool Victoria Urgent Treatment Centre which is co-located with Blackpool Teaching Hospitals Emergency Department (based on the Acute Hospital site) ensuring the highest standard of care for all patients.We also have a close working relationship with Lockwood GP surgery in Poulton-le-Fylde.
As this working relationship develops, there will be an increased opportunity for the postholder to deliver primary care services from the Lockwood GP site.
Job description Job responsibilities Clinical Responsibilities: Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation.
Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness In consultation with patients and in line with current practice disease management protocols, developing care plans for health.
Providing counselling and health education In accordance with the practice timetable, as agreed, the post-holder will make him/her-self available to undertake a variety of duties including surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, visiting patients at home/community settings, checking, and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork, and correspondence in a timely fashion.
Admitting or discharging patients to and from the caseload and referring to other care providers as appropriate.
Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards.
Collecting data for audit purposes.
Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute prescriptions (avoiding hand-written prescriptions whenever possible).
Prescribing in accordance with the practice prescribing formulary (or generically) whenever this is clinically appropriate.
In general, the post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care, including participation in the Duty Team on call arrangements.
Person Specification Qualifications Essential Full registration with the General Medical Council.
Vocationally trained GP.
Evidence of continual professional development.
Desirable Membership of or working towards MRCGP.
Teamwork Essential Proven ability to maintain effective multidisciplinary teams.

Experience Essential Ability to offer clinical opinion on full range of primary medical conditions.

Good practical clinical skills.
Desirable Proficient in assessing and treating minor injuries, including review of MSK X-rays and suturing.

Desirable Ability to apply research outcomes to clinical problems Teaching Essential Experience and willingness to teaching juniors, support services professionals.
Willing / able to attend appropriate training.
Communication Essential Excellent oral, aural, and written communication skills.

Desirable Previous use of EMIS Web and Adastra IT systems.
