Job summary We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, highly motivated individual as a Resuscitation Officer, to join our dedicated Resuscitation Service at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.Applicants for this post require current acute care experience as there will be a clinical aspect to the role, attending cardiac arrest situations and medical emergencies throughout the Trust for all specialities.
You will also be expected to participate in auditing of cardiac arrest procedures, reported through Trust Governance.The post works across all our hospital sites including Royal Preston Hospital, Chorley & South Ribble General Hospital, Specialist Mobility Rehabilitation Centre and Finney House Community Care hub.The Resuscitation team is based in a modern purpose built skills building and has 4 dedicated resuscitation skills labs at our RPH Health Academy 2 site and another training room at our Health Academy 3 building based at our Chorley Hospital site.The Resuscitation team is lead by the Lead for Resuscitation & Simulation Service Lead and consists of band 7 Senior Resus Officers, 2 band 6 Resus Officers and 1 Band 5 Assistant Training Officer.
Main duties of the job You will offer specialist clinical advice on resuscitation practices, addressing complex emergencies and professional issues and support the development of proactive training that aligns with Resuscitation Council standards.
You will also be responsible for implementing a robust resuscitation training plan that meets service needs, enhances clinical competency, and complies with Trust targets.
You will regularly participate in resuscitation attempts, providing expert guidance during these events while maintaining a safety-first approach, and review clinical practices to identify learning opportunities and ensure standards are met.
You will welcome all candidates and faculty to foster a positive image of the department and organization, acting as a dynamic and enthusiastic member of the Resuscitation Team.
Finally, you will contribute to high-quality resuscitation education that enhances service delivery and care safety.
Support the National Cardiac Arrest Audit (NCAA) with feedback and participate in trials and evaluations of new resuscitation equipment across the Trust.

Job description Job responsibilities Please see the attached document for the full job description Provide high quality resuscitation training and education within the guidelines of the Trust Resuscitation Training Policy and the Resuscitation Council (UK) in order to ensure staff have the knowledge and skills to continuously improve the care and management of the critically ill and arrested patient ABLS/PBLS, ILS/PILS/ALS/APLS, EALS.
Provide specialist clinical advice and guidance relating to matters connected with resuscitation practice relating to the complex interpretation of life-threatening emergencies, documentation, clinical practice or associated professional issues.
Support the development of proactive and responsive resuscitation training which is compliant with Resuscitation Council standards.
Develop, implement and measure the effectiveness of a robust resuscitation training plan which meets the needs of the service, supports clinical competency based resuscitation training and meets the trajectory for Trust mandatory compliance targets.
Support the Senior resuscitation officers and resuscitation trainers within the team to ensure a culture of continuous improvement and professional excellence is achieved.
Cover Cardiac Arrest call bleep, attending and participating in resuscitation attempts as part of the resuscitation team on a regular basis, providing specialist knowledge and advice during and following the resuscitation attempts of all patient groups.
Maintain a safety-first approach, reviewing clinical practice, identifying areas for learning and provide assurance of standards for clinical practice.
Ensure all candidates, internal and external teaching faculty welcomed in a manner which promotes a positive image of yourself, the department and the organisation.
Act consistently as a positive, enthusiastic, responsive and dynamic member of the Resuscitation Team.
Demonstrate a flexible approach to working patterns as needed at certain times long days/ weekend courses Support the drive to ensure resuscitation education is delivered to a high quality standard , which contributes to service delivery, adds value to the organisation and improves the safety & quality of care with compassion Support input of National Cardiac Arrest Audit (NCAA) providing regular feedback of data.
Participate in trials, evaluations and implementation of new resuscitation equipment across the Trust Person Specification Qualifications and Education Essential Registered Nurse, ODP or Paramedic Evidence of significant relevant professional development.
