Job summary An opportunity has arisen for a registered professional Nurse to join our excellent Cancer/Haematology Research Team at The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital.The post holder will have experience of working in Clinical Research or the ability demonstrate a real passion for research.
You must be flexible and hard working with the ability to manage your workload effectively to cope with tight deadlines and conflicting demands.Enthusiasm, intelligence and a patient centred approach are essential as is being an excellent team member and having a proactive can-do attitude.Informal visits are highly encouraged to discover more.
Main duties of the job The post holder will assist and support the department in the effective recruitment and co-ordination of patients entered into complex research studies whilst taking overall responsibility for the day to day running of epidemiology and less complex treatment trials.The post is intended to support the Trust trial portfolio, across all specialties including but not limited to oncology, haematology, gastroenterology, cardiovascular.Responsibilities to include: identifying patients through screening of notes/ histologies/MDT's;participating in the informed consentprocess; co-ordinating patient's treatment and FU; supporting and monitoring patients;collecting data and data entry About us You will be line managed by the Band 7 Team Lead Research Sister but work closely with Consultants, Registrars and the wider MDT.
You will also work closely with the Research and Innovation Team to promote the importance of clinical research across the Trust.The team carry out a variety clinical research/ portfolio studies from academic observational to commercial interventional trials, they pride themselves on offering an extra layer of support for their patients while giving them access to ground breaking discoveries and treatments.As a team we are positive , proactive, kind and inclusive and that is reflected in excellent staff survey results.

Person Specification Qualifications Essential Registered Adult nurse with current NMC pin Evidence of continuous personal, professional and academic development Communication skills training Desirable Accredited NIHR GCP training Accredited Informed consent training Advanced communication skills training Experience and knowledge Essential Significant post-registration clinical experience in relevant clinical areas Ability to demonstrate a sound knowledge and understanding of clinical research in practice Knowledge and experience of handling complex relationships Experience of collaborating with other agencies Desirable Enhanced IT skills Experience of using hospital and national IT systems Clinical Research or the ability demonstrate a real passion for research
