Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research, Old Road Campus Research Building, Roosevelt Drive, Headington, Oxford, OX3 7DQ We have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated, creative, and collaborative Research Facilitation and Communications Officer to join the communications team at the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research at the Nuffield Department of Medicine.
This role provides an exciting opportunity to help shape and improve communications at the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research Oxford, a branch of Ludwig Cancer Research, an international collaborative network of acclaimed scientists, and a part of the renowned Nuffield Department of Medicine at the University of Oxford known for its world-leading research.
You will be responsible for utilising your scientific background and experience in communications to contribute to effective internal and external communications about the branch and its achievements, guided by the Ludwig global communications team (New York) and working in partnership with NDM communications.
You will be tasked with writing, editing, and proofreading a diverse range of internal and external media, including website content, news items, newsletters, press releases, promotional materials, and presentations.
This will include effectively summarising research journal articles into short news stories accessible to the wider public.
You will also be responsible for co-ordinating grant applications for the branch at the unit level, contributing to key sections of applications, and working with PIs, the Senior Science Writer, and other supporting staff to bring together the completed applications.
To be successful in this role, you will hold a degree, ideally in life science or equivalent, along with experience in a science communication role or regular practice of science communication/outreach in a research position.
You will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to interact equally effectively with senior academic staff, researchers, and support staff within the University and the Ludwig Institute.
A systematic, thorough, and well-organised approach to work, with the ability to work to deadlines and prioritise tasks is also essential for this role.
