Tel GRH 0300 422 6176 Main duties of the job The Critical Care Nursing Associate will be responsible for contributing to the care of critically ill patients under the indirect supervision of registered nurses.
With training and support, you will provide both general and specialised direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures, and protocols.
You will play a vital role in monitoring and managing patients with life-threatening conditions.Your main duties will include: -- Providing high-quality nursing care to patients admitted to critical care and offering support to their loved ones, ensuring safe and effective practice- Collaborating within a multidisciplinary team to provide continuous care to a specific group of patients from admission to discharge- Supervising and mentoring other staff members and learners as appropriate- Maintaining and developing your personal skills with ongoing support About us We take pride in placing people at the centre of everything we do, working together as a united team.

Job description Job responsibilities Provision of compassionate, safe and effective care and support to patients in the critical care settingMonitor the condition and health needs of patients on a continual basis in partnership with patients, families and carers, ensuring appropriate escalation to a registered nurseProvide effective evidence based care under the supervision of registered nurses in order to perform complex and non-complex activitiesRecognise the effects of medicines, allergies, drug sensitivity, side effects, contraindications and adverse reactionsUndertake safe and effective administration and optimisation of medicines in accordance with Trust policy and the NMC Standards of Proficiency for Nursing AssociatesMonitor the condition and health needs of patients within their care following administration of medicationsComply with Trust policy in relation to any safety critical medicines to be administered by Nursing Associates.Support, supervise, teach (where appropriate) and act as a role model to trainee nursing associates, student nurses, healthcare support workers and new staff members, promoting reflection and providing constructive feedbackEstablish and maintain effective communication with patients, carers and members of the multidisciplinary teamTo engage in a preceptorship period that includes achieving the Nursing Associate Medicines Management Competency frameworkMaintain own continuing professional development in accordance with NMC CPD requirements and contribute to formulation of own objectives and personal development planAdopt a reflective approach to own practice with a view to continually improveUndertake further training as required, prior to carrying out any additional duties identified as relevant to role, to comply with Trust policies and proceduresDevelop knowledge and practice in any area of work required by the roleMonitor and maintain health, safety and security of self and others in own work areaMaintain clear and accurate written records relevant to practice Person Specification Qualifications, Experience, Knoweledge Skills and Abilities Essential Active Nursing Associate registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council Nursing Associate Foundation Degree qualification Evidence of ongoing professional development through maintenance of professional portfolio and registration revalidation Able to competently and safely administer medication according to Trust policy Understanding of the scope of the role of the Nursing Associate in context of the team and the organisation, and how the role may contribute to service development.
Understands and acts in line with the NMC Standards of proficiency for Nursing Associates (2018) and the NMC Code of Practice Able to prioritise own workload and that of others as appropriate Able to work effectively as a team player under appropriate supervision, and as part of a multi-disciplinary team and understand the importance of following procedures and care plans.
Able to identify limitations of own competency and undertake Continuous Professional Development to maintain competencies and skills including all mandatory training.
Able to deal with non-routine and unpredictable nature of the workload and individual patient contact.
Desirable Completion of the Care Certificate Post Registration Experience working as a Registered Nursing Associate Able to support, supervise, assess and act as a role model to Student Nursing Associates, student nurses and health care assistants within the clinical area as required.
