Manufacturing Engineer Location: Ipswich Job Type: Full-time Salary: £37,000 - £50,000 depending on experience We are seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join a manufacturer of commercial mowers and turf maintenance equipment in Ipswich.
The ideal candidate will lead significant improvements in operations and apply lean methodology to enhance product quality and manufacturing efficiency.Expertise in weld support and laser & press support is essential for this role.
Day to Day of the role: Design welding fixtures for chassis construction and oversee the work in welding bays.
Oversee works in Tube/Box bending, Press Break, Fibre laser cutting and Welding manufacturing areas.
Offer process development, and tooling support to above areas.
Collaborate with engineering and production teams to ensure seamless integration of parts and products into production.
Maintain safety, quality, production, and cost standards.
Provide weld support including: process, tooling, documentation, tool design, and implementation.
Support other primary areas such as form tooling, tube bending, and machining fixtures.
Manage new machinery specifications and implementation to support growth plans.
Handle primary area change notes, set standard times & routings, and review for Design for Manufacture (DFM).
Implement Standard Operating Procedures where necessary.
Identify opportunities to reduce waste and engage in continuous improvement.
Work closely with the primary team to sustain and improve processes and controls in existing production lines.
Required Skills & Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent, with a preference for Mechanical Engineering.
Proven experience in designing weld fixtures of agricultural/ industrial scale and support of welders, fibre lasers & press break operators.
Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing Techniques.
Strong problem-solving skills and knowledge of PFMEA, SPC, and Quality Control Techniques.
Proficiency in CAD systems, Siemens NX preferred.
Ability to work effectively with staff at all levels.
Good understanding of ISO & OHSAS requirements.
Excellent communication skills and customer-focused.
Versatile and self-motivated, capable of working with minimal supervision.
