Reading Teaching Assistant As a Reading Teaching Assistant, you will be responsible for supporting students with their reading skills, both on a one-to-one basis and in small groups.
You will work closely with teachers and other support staff to develop and deliver tailored support plans for students, with the aim of improving their literacy skills and academic performance.
Our client secondary school is based in the heart of Old Trafford, and is walking distance from a variety of public transport options.
There is also a staff car park onsite.
This role starts in November and will run full-time until July 2025.
The successful candidate who gets on well in the school environment will also be offered the opportunity to become permanent at school.
Key Responsibilities: Support students with their reading skills, both on a one-to-one basis and in small groups.
Develop and deliver tailored support plans for students, in line with their individual needs.
Collaborate with teachers and other support staff to monitor student progress and adjust support plans as necessary.
Provide feedback to teachers on student progress and areas for improvement.
Contribute to the development and implementation of literacy interventions and initiatives.
Maintain accurate records of student progress and attendance.
Attend meetings and training sessions as required.
Act as a positive role model for students, promoting positive behaviour and a love of learning.
Essential Criteria: Experience of working with young people in an educational setting.
A good standard of education, including GCSEs in English and Maths (or equivalent).
Strong literacy skills, with the ability to support students in developing their reading skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, teachers, and parents.
A patient and empathetic approach, with the ability to support students who may have additional learning needs.
The ability to speak another language (particularly Arabic or Urdu) would be an advantage but is not essential.
