Team Product Control team at Jefferies International Limited
Role This role is for an Associate within the Investment Banking Division Product Control team at Jefferies International Limited (JIL) covering the European based businesses.
The role will also entail working closely with our offshore team to ensure high standards are maintained.
Key Responsibilities The key responsibilities may include:
Daily Production tasks including:
Formal PL production (including Fee Validation / Flash vs Actual analysis)Daily Inventory ReportingDaily Reporting & Analysis of Firm Balance SheetT0 Reporting across Trading/ Banking DivisionsParticipation in weekly P&L callLiaising with offshore team on daily production issues on an ad hoc basisMonth End work including:
Balance Sheet substantiationReconciliation of reported PL to ledgerAssistance to IPV processPresenting Income Statement & Balance sheet items in accordance with policy guidanceWorking with and across other groups to resolve breaks/exceptions in a timely mannerAnalytical Review & Commentary (PL and BS)Contribution to month end reporting packs and stakeholder MI requestsDisclosures productionAdditional responsibilities:
Improve and challenge existing controls and processesInvolvement in new business approval processProvide cover for wider Controllers TeamAd hoc project workPerson Specification The following skills and experience are required for this role:
Part qualified/qualified in the accounting fieldPrior finance/product control experience preferredUnderstanding of the key components of a bank's balance sheet / P&LStrong Excel knowledge; VBA skills are preferableAbility to write and present commentary pertaining to business area(s) supportedHigh attention to detail with a control focused mindset and awareness of when to escalate issuesTeam playerAble to prioritise workload to achieve targetsUses initiative to identify issues and implement solutionsAbility to automate and rationalise process as necessaryThis role will be based on site in London and the successful candidate will be expected to build relationships with the front office, COO teams, middle office, operations, GL Control etc.
A mindset of continually reassessing and building upon the existing control environment will be crucial to success.
