Position: Primary Teacher (SEND) Location : London Borough of Brent Employment Type: Full-time, long term Salary: MPS 4 - 6 Start Date: January 2025 Class: Year 2/3 About Us We are a large, dynamic special school in the London Borough of Brent, serving an incredible community of nearly 200 pupils from Reception through Year 6.
Our school provides a supportive and enriching environment for children with diverse learning needs, including a significant number with autism.
With a focus on small class sizes and personalised teaching, we aim to foster each childs academic, social, and emotional development.
Our school features extensive outdoor spaces, specialist rooms, and a heated swimming pool that our pupils enjoy as part of their well-rounded education.
In addition to academic subjects, our adapted National Curriculum includes PE, Art, Music, and Life Skills, ensuring a broad and balanced educational experience.
Key Responsibilities As a Primary Teacher, you will: Plan and deliver tailored lessons for a small classes of 7 to 10 pupils in Year 2/3, adapting the curriculum to meet the needs and learning styles of each child.
Foster functional communication, life skills, and social skills in line with our focus on holistic development.
Collaborate with support staff and other teachers to ensure each pupil receives consistent, individualised attention.
Implement EHCPs and monitor pupil progress, adjusting strategies to promote learning, independence, and confidence.
Create a supportive, engaging classroom environment where every child feels valued and encouraged to participate.
Qualifications and Skills Required: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in the UK, with experience in primary or SEND education.
Experience: Previous experience teaching children with special educational needs, ideally with knowledge of autism support strategies.
Skills: Strong understanding of SEND teaching approaches, including behaviour management and communication support.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills to work effectively with staff, students, and families.
Patience, empathy, and creativity to engage pupils and make learning accessible and enjoyable.
