Pre-Construction Manager (Southern Home Counties Business Unit) Location: Brighton/Canterbury Office – Covering Sussex, Surrey & KentProject Based/Office Based, with flexibility for occasional remote workingWe are looking for an experienced and talented Pre-Construction Manager to lead, manage and have accountability of pre-construction activities in a two-stage tender environment, including the timelysubmission of completed bids, ensuring that the Southern Home Counties Business is positioned with the best possible chance of successful project delivery.About Morgan Sindall Construction (MSC)MSC is an Investors in People Platinum employer providingnational construction services to private and public sector customers across a range of markets.

As a progressive and ambitious company, our employees benefit from a safe and rewarding working environment.Summary of RoleA Pre-Construction Manager who will be responsible for leading all pre-construction activities on behalf of MSC, including coordinating the activity of consultants, supply chain and MSC team members.Also responsible for submitting completed bids to existing or prospective customers, on time and within budget ensuring the highest level of detail and quality, and that MSC is positioned with the best possible chance of success in bringing projects to construction.Responsibilities & Accountabilities2nd Stage Pre-Construction ActivityLead and manage all aspects of preconstruction activity to successfully convert projects from the 2nd Stage through to constructionResponsibility for establishing the Customers key objectives and delivering on these through the 2nd StageBuild effective relationships and establish professional trust and mutual respect with Customers, Consultants & Supply ChainDevelop and execute a design and commercial strategy that delivers projects to an agreed budget and scope.Prepare and manage the programme to agreed timescalesUpdate and manage the project risk register to ensure risks are identified and removed/mitigatedSeek opportunities for innovation to improve project viabilityLead value management processesProvide expert project management capability to ensure processes & procedures are managed effectivelyHold a strong understanding of all commercial and contract elementsLead the development of robust Contractors Proposals documents including clear construction methodology, logistics planning, design strategy, risk & opportunities registerTenders/BidsEnsure effective and inspirational leadership is provided on all tenders and projects in the preconstruction phaseUnderstand and interact with the overall Morgan Sindall business to allow communication of benefits to customers through our project proposalsEstablish winning strategies and writing plans for quality led bids and participate in red reviews of prequalification documents and tendersCoordinate the production of bids and proposalsIdentify the resources with the necessary skills and capabilities required to submit the bid and subsequently fulfil the contract, from in-house or from third partiesGuide bid team writers in preparing the technical and cost components of the proposal, including understanding of the task, plan and past performanceReview proposals, draft and final versions for responsiveness, thoroughness, accuracy, staffing, financial considerations, quality and effective design and layoutCreate corporate concepts and boilerplate content for use in future proposalsEnsure MSC work winning processes are effectively and consistently implemented and recommend improvements where appropriateApply Morgan Sindall health and safety standards and procedures Influence and support team members to innovate and achieve optimum solutionsLead tender presentations, interviews and negotiations with customers Ideally you will have:Significant experience in key sectors of the Tier 1 main contracting marketThe ability to manage design, commercial, contract & operational elements during the 2nd stage of two-stage procurementWide experience in project management capabilities and client engagement expertiseWhat are we looking for?As an experienced Pre-Construction Manager, you will have the ability to work with senior management to set project and operational targets, excellent negotiation and diplomacy skills and the ability to make a sound business case to senior stakeholders.Previous senior level involvement in work winning would be an advantage.To thrive in our business, you should share our passion for the project at hand and enjoy working in an inclusive and hardworking team environment.
