Job summary To support PBS Lead with implementing high-quality, evidence-based Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) within the Complex Community ServicesThis role requires an individual with experience and expertise in supporting individuals with behaviours of concern, with a focus on enhancing the quality of life for those we support.Reporting directly to the PBS Lead, you will lead a comprehensive range of functions, including data analysis, behaviour assessment, personalised planning.

Supporting with functional behaviour assessments (FBAs) in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders and professional disciplines.
To provide specialist behavioural assessments, formulation and contributions to Support Plans and intervention plans for people with behaviours of concern, working with other members of the multi-disciplinary team To coach and support staff in strategies, functional thinking and empathetic practice and working with students both at home and in the community To support accurate and informative data collection with staff teams and analyse this as part of the assessment and monitoring process To communicate information concerning the assessment, formulation and intervention plans of service users in a skilled, professional and sensitive manner.
To communicate with service users in a manner that is accessible and understandable.
This may involve producing an easy to understand version of reports or letters To provide advice and guidance regarding the assessment and management of risks associated with behaviours of concern alongside restraint reduction plans and operating a least restrictive environment Implement, and monitor individual-specific Behaviour Support Plans (BSPs) collaboratively with key stakeholders.
Train and coach staff teams on implementing BSPs, monitoring quality and approach.

Support practice development of team members to improve fidelity to the BSP in practice.
Utilise diverse skills and needs assessments to identify strengths, weaknesses, and untapped potential, focusing explicitly on enhancing the quality of life.
Lead understanding of RRN, Human Rights, Deprivation of Liberty, and Mental Capacity, training staff to ensure least restrictive behaviour support planning.
Monitor and reduce the use of restrictive practices, including medications, restrictive physical interventions Ensure all legal framework is in accurate and evidenced Ensure effective risk assessments and risk management plans are implemented, collaborating with the Quality and Compliance Team to minimise potential risks.
Raise serious risk management issues and participate in developing action plans.
Improve the overall quality of experience for supported individuals Foster a culture of meaningful engagement and involvement of supported individuals, families, and significant others.Qualification / Training PBS Related Qualification Person Specification Qualifications Essential PBS Related Qualification Desirable Professional qualification in nursing, social work, psychology or Behaviour Analysis A degree in a relevant health or social care discipline.
Pledged member of RRN Experience Essential Demonstrated understanding of Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) principles and successful implementation strategies across an organisation.
Experience in a related role within health and social care working with people with a learning disability who have behaviours of concern Proven track record of embedding PBS principles and strategies into services Experience of working negotiating and building successful interventions and strategies in a multidisciplinary team that includes the service user Experience in monitoring, reviewing, developing and reporting on the success of PBS strategies.
Experience in behavioural reviews, assessments and comprehensive report writing Working in collaboration with external stakeholders and wider MDTs Experience of working with people with learning disabilities/mental health issues and complex needs, especially those who display complex behaviours.
Desirable Experience of working regionally throughout services supporting people with behaviours of concern Experience of development and/or delivery of PBS training Previous experience of completing behavioural assessments and development of support plans and evidence based strategies Experience of providing care and support services to adults with complex care and support needs such as Acquired Brain Injury, Spinal Injury, Learning Disability, Autism and Mental Health diagnoses Leadership and advocacy for PBS within organisational contexts.
Skills and Knowledge Essential Proficiency in practice and care interventions relevant to the defined pathway.
Ability to complete a variety of behaviour monitoring tools and use findings to develop person centred strategies Excellent communication skills, capable of delivering varied communications to diverse stakeholders.
Proficiency in computer-based skills related to care planning, assessment, evaluation analysis Robust understanding of legislative frameworks, policies, and procedures governing care practice relevant to the pathway (Safeguarding, Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act/DOLS, Human Rights Act).
Knowledge of assessment and care planning processes including Behaviour Support Plans Desirable Proficiency in utilising digitally based care solutions.
Detailed understanding of Restraint reduction network, Nice guidelines and BiLD
