If so, we're looking for a Planning Compliance Technician to join our small but busy team.

It contains over 3000 listed buildings, 41 conservation areas, and internationally and nationally important wildlife sites.Acting as Local Planning Authority, the council deals with around 2,800 planning applications per year and our Local Plan review which will help deliver over 12,800 new homes is entering its final stages.The Planning Enforcement team receive around 500 referrals per year.
We are a small, friendly, but busy team committed to investigating and resolving alleged breaches of planning control, either through informal negotiation or our statutory planning enforcement powers.
We also monitor the build out of developments to ensure compliance.About the roleAs Planning Compliance Technician, your primary role is to triage incoming planning enforcement referrals, check compliance between planning permissions and building control applications and the build-out, seek to resolve any inconsistencies, and provide technical and administrative support to the enforcement team.You need to have an aptitude for gathering information from various sources, interpreting technical documents, and making clear, logical, and well-founded decisions.
You also need great communication skills – both written and verbal – to explain planning decisions in easily understood language to different audiences.Key to your success as Planning Compliance Technician is a commitment to good customer service.
Planning enforcement can be challenging and you will need to be able to work in sometimes contentious situations.
In the role you'll need good time management and the ability to manage and prioritise demands and deadlines.About youWhile knowledge and experience of the planning system is desirable, this role would suit anyone with a regulatory background.
You must be effective communicator with a strong customer service focus.
You will be able to deliver innovative solutions and problem solve, working co-operatively with others to achieve results.
