Job summary Newport Pagnell Medical Centre is looking to recruit patient navigators to further expand our team.
We are looking for staff on a part time basis for 21 hours per week, over 4 days, between Monday & Friday.
You will also be required to cover Saturday morning shifts on a rota basis.
We offer a comprehensive training programme to all our patient navigators, where you will initially receive 1-1 training, followed by ongoing support from your trainer and team leaders.
Main duties of the job Greet patients, doctors and visitors at Reception in a polite and friendly manner.
Answer the telephone promptly and courteously.
Make appointments using the computerised appointments system.
Administer the procedure for repeat prescriptions.
Open and sort all Medical Centre post, both internal and external.
Ensure the smooth running of all surgeries and clinics.
Arrange hospital appointments where relevant x-rays, out-patients.
Receive patients' specimens ready for pathology laboratory collection.
Deal with general enquiries from patients and visitors in a helpful and efficient manner.
Collate and sort paperwork from GPs and other Practice staff, and deal with accordingly.
Inform patients of computerised test results, in person, on the telephone or by letter.Some flexibility is required, as you will sometimes need to work additional or alternative hours to cover for colleagues.

Person Specification Experience Essential Excellent communication skills, with a clear and polite telephone manner.
Ability to work in a polite, confidential and discreet manner, respecting patients at all times.
Experience of working with the general public, being sensitive and empathic in distressing situations.
Confidence to work as part of a team and ability to "think on your feet".
Strong IT and administration skills.
Desirable Strong customer service experience.
